Top 10 road movies

Road trip movies are inevitably wild and wacky. Take some races, wrecks and chases and throw in some humour and drama and voila you’ll get a fun-filled movie, which by the end of it will make you pack your bags and head out yourself.

Usually the character in transit experiences a change of heart or attitude after meeting people from all walks of life during the journey. Whether they take a direct route or a detour, the important thing is they HAVE to arrive and arrive with a bang!

With Road, Movie just released we decided to give you Top 10 road movies which burnt fuel, burnt rubber and burnt the box-office!

1. Bombay To Goa

This Mehmood- Amitabh starrer is a hoot! The bus journey they take from Bombay to Goa is filled with passengers from all over India who belong to different religions and cultures. Watch out for Lalita Pawar, she’ll leave you in splits with her sarcasm.

2. Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin

Not your-run-of-the-mill road movie! A middle class cheeky reporter and a spoilt rich runaway brat, together in the same bus… one sees a scoop the other is pompously oblivious. But somewhere along the inter-state road trip, they fall in love with each other. Funny co-incidences and funnier one-liners make this movie a wonderful breezy comedy.

3. Harold And Kumar Go to White Castle

We have to admit Kal Penn is atrociously funny. If you’ve seen Van Wilder, Epic movie and American Desi you’ll know what we’re talking about. This one is no exception, in fact this is super comedy at its best.

Word of caution: All the cheese-burger lovers out there get your happy meal before you start watching this movie. Make that two.

4. Heroes

It’s a story about two friends who take a journey from Delhi to Chandigarh to Manali and then to Ladhakh just to deliver three letters as a part of their film school assignment. The expedition teaches them a valuable lesson on love for their country and love for countrymen.

5. Road Trip

Every road movie has a mission and this one revolves around a sex-tape. It's a must-watch for both guys and girls, for different reasons. of course. Guys can take a lesson on loyalty and girls you’ll get to learn what guys REALLY do on a stag-trip!

6. Mr and Mrs Iyer

A bus ride through the hilly terrain starts a conversation between a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy. Set in the backdrop of communal violence, the movie will take you on a heart-breaking emotional journey.

7. Motorcycle Diaries

Before he was inspiring T-shirts and tattoos, Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a young medical student riding his motorcycle across South America along with his friend Alberto Granado to get thrills out of life. Guevara and Granado's insightful adventures make this movie one helluva ride.

8. The Darjeeling Limited

The movie is about three narcotised brothers taking a train trip for a spiritual quest through India. Whether they get enlightened or not is a different story but their quest towards enlightenment will give you a lot of LOL moments.

9. Rat Race

Six people are given a key to a safety deposit box which contains $2 million and only the first one to reach will get the prize money. If you want to know how really the mad-mad world is, you got to watch this movie, it’s a laugh-riot.

And last but in no way the least:

10. My name is Khan

In this film, Shah Rukh sets out on a journey from one US state to another just to meet the President. His quest leads him from Los Angeles' jail to hurricane hit Georgia. It’s a thought provoking movie and must watch for every SRK fan.
