Lovebugged Diaries: eX Axis, whY Axis
Belated Happy V-Day and all that. Even to those in the throes of the eX Day Syndrome (not an XXX-rated day, but one that involved heart-breakingly painful thoughts of one or multiple exes) or/and the whY Day Syndrome (why, why, why this stupid day?) that only seems amplified in February. Especially to them, in fact. To you all, my friends, its better to be single than "exed".
Don't make this mistake
It's indeed a stupid mistake to reconcile with your ex just so you can flaunt some arm candy on such hyped "occasions".
F.R.I.E.N.D.S. character Chandler Bing who succumbed to those I'm-so-lonely pangs and got back with the annoyingly, nasally loud Janice (temporarily, thank heavens) would agree.
(S)he's your ex for a reason: because it didn't work out. You don't want to start a non-relationship on such a non-occasion.
Case study
Three ahem… friends of mine decided to hook up with their respective exes invariably on/before/after V-Day. Here why you need to avoid falling into that trap:
Case 1 - (S)He's my soulmate: Or that's what you'd like to believe. Desperate times, desperate measures and all that. When your heart's in a tizzy, you talk yourself into believing almost anything.
Case 2 - My pals say it's meant to be: Sometimes, it's your entourage that ends up dictating your love life. Being social animals, we just get used to being around each other, and seeing people around each other. Don't reconcile with an ex just because your best buds swear you two were/are/will be the perfect couple ever.
Case 3 - There's so much history: You know each well. Too well, in fact. There are just no more surprises left. Slipping into a comfort zone is all hunky-dory, but how long is it going to last? A week, a month, more?
It's not worth it, nope!
Immoral of the story: The eX effect here is the AXE effect - you'll be axing whatever's left of your relationship, your dignity and your potential for a fresh, new date/relationship (wink, wink). Slum it out with a few single buddies, knocking back a couple of whiskies, Cosmos, jelly shots or whatever it is that gets you high. Blah? Then go for a One Night Stand, if you must (What? How? Where? When? Really!) - but that's another Lovebugged Diary entry altogether. Watch this space!
