There can be many reasons for your mother-in-law's over-possessiveness and here are the top three:
Hormones
I can't fathom any other reason why MILs are so freakishly possessive about their sons! Blame it on PMS, menopause, anyt
hing but I hope to God, that someone would have kept them in check all these years!
Control over her boy
Some women just can't le
t go of their sons. Hopefully when he's 59 and counting she'll think of him as an adult. Hopefully!
Jealous of the new squeeze
You're now the mai
n interest in her son's life and that's hurting her pretty bad. While previously he would run to mummy to get his wounds kissed better, well, he now runs to you and how! (wink, wink).
How to cop
e with her
Cooking: If she thinks you a
ren't cooking her son's favourite food, then hand over the money and ask her to do the marketing and cooking and cleaning of the kitchen herself.
Baby: If she thinks you aren't taking care of her grandchild well enough, then head over unannounced with your baby's milk, nappies and a change of clothes and leave him at her place for several hours of babysitting.
Carry on the same way for a month or two while you relax and watch your mother-in-law finally fade into the woodwork to avoid you and your housework. It sounds vindictive it works like a charm.
Enlist your father-in-law's help
This man has been dealing with your mom-in-law for a lifetime and he knows how to handle her. Get his help and half your work is done! But this works only if your father-in-law has the guts to stand up to your MIL! If not, then forget about help from that quarter!
Try manipulation
Send your hubby over from Monday to Friday for a couple of weeks. Your MIL will be stuck with cooking and laundry and you'll get your hubby for weekends. You'll be well-rested and you can cook his favourite meals and enjoy a fun weekend! That should satisfy her possessive instincts and get half your housework done too!
We believe in the eye for an eye policy and it definitely works! With these mean moves watch your MIL run as fast as possible to avoid the extra work you've dumped on her head! Possessiveness will be the last thing on her mind!
