Nicole VS 'bump watch'
In recent years the media has become more and more obsessed with celebrity pregnancy, so much so that there is constant speculation about any female star with the hint of a curve in the stomach area.
The latest to be accused of being pregnant because she has a slight roundness in her middle section was the very thin Nicole Richie. She did not take the rumours very well and released a statement blasting the 'bump watch' trend.
She said, "Contrary to recent speculation, I am not pregnant. This irresponsible reporting continues to feed an atmosphere of self-doubt and insecurity. To publicly point out a change in anyone's body is mean-spirited and cruel. People's bodies change and change again. This is not newsworthy and is a waste of valuable media space that should be used for more important issues."
We guess she has a point, the pressure must be immense when you're a celebrity. If you had a pizza for dinner and are pictured just afterwards it could be on every newspaper headline that you're with child!
It's like the equivalent of someone you haven't seen for a while congratulating you on your pregnancy just because you look slightly heavier than the last time they saw you - it's very much a no-no so we can see why Nicole is p'd off!
