Name: J Lo

Artist: Jennifer Lopez

Rating: 8/10

Text: Who can forget Jennifer Lopez lounging on the beach, playing with sand, resplendent in bling, crooning My love don’t cost a thing? But this is not the only reason that should prompt you to pick the pop diva’s second album J Lo.

There are several good singles coupled with some catchy beats and not so great lyrics. In fact, Love don’t cost a thing is just a prelude and sets the tones of the album.

Drums, hip hop beats and J Lo’s vocals remain the same from song to song, with the occasional Latin cut thrown in to vary the rhythm.

I’m Real, that sees the performer mingling with the locals of a small town, is a retro pop track Play, is a typical dance number. We Gotta Talk and Walking On Sunshine are fast-paced numbers with retro sounds. it has a typical Latino flavour.

On the whole, J Lo is a mixed bag of retro, pop, R & B, Latin beats and rhythms. Nevertheless it’s a good album to swings your hips to!
