Feeling haute, haute, haute

It was an afternoon filled with glitter and glamour. There was stunning silverware from TBZ Nirmal Zaveri's Shaze collection, Namrata Barua Shroff unique, handcrafted furniture and Mumbai's beautiful women!

The event was hosted by Samrat Zaveri and Namrata Barua Shroff at the TBZ Nirmal Zaveri outlet in Bandra, Mumbai on Saturday (February, 20). (See pic above)

Signature collection

On display were the Shaze collection, which includes elegant tableware, creative gifting options and contemporary jewellery set in sterling silver, while Shroff unveiled her functional and ergonomic line of furniture.

Why show jewellery with furniture? Zaveri said: "We are happy to exhibit some of Namrata's unique furniture designs to match our unique sterling silver and leather home décor line along with our in-house signature jewellery. Moreover, Namrata is a dear friend and we cater to the same customer, so we thought why not come together and showcase our creativity!"

Model's design

Each of former model Barua Shroff's pieces of furniture had a personal story to tell. Here's a brief:

An adorable baby cot called 'Chubby Cot' was designed by Namrata for her son when he was born. A very functional towel, shoe, shirt, trousers, tie, cuffs, spectacle and shoes holder called 'Viko' was designed for her husband Vikram (therefore Viko), then there was a book showcase called 'Book Block'. A very interesting table called 'Square and Triangle' that Namrata nicknamed her 'conversation piece' had several blocks of small tables in shapes like a triangle or an un-even quadrant and each piece can be adjusted in such a way that it becomes one large square or a large triangle.

The guest list

The hosts also invited their beautiful friends to join the celebrations. The guest list included Sharmila Khanna, Tania Deol, Kailash and Aarti Surendranath, Gayatri Joshi, Namrata Dutt with her daughter, Radhika Ruia, Madhoo, Suchitra Pillai, Radhika (Shaan's wife), Pria Kataaria Puri, Pooja Bedi, Raageshwari, Nina Manuel, Dipannita Sharma, Sonali Bendre, Anita Dongre, Aditi Govitrikar, Jaya Raheja, Bhavna Pandey, Parizaad Zorabian, Akansha Agarwal, Nisha Jhaveri, Gul Panag, Orna Sagiv (Consulate General for Israel), Ninotchka Nagpal, Shibani Suri, Helen Brodie, DJ Megha, Tarana Kupchandani, Lata Patel and Gauri Tandon among others.

The ladies with the Birkin!

It seemed the fashionable ladies of Mumbai are besotted with the Birkin! There was Gayatri Joshi with an eye-catching red Hermes Birkin that matched Nisha Jhaveri's (of Myrah Spa) Birkin.

Fashion designer Pria Kataria Puri walked in with a purple Birkin with animal skin texture, socialite and business woman Ninotchka Nagpal flaunted a grey one.

Phew, Hermes overload for one afternoon!

Psst…overheard at the party

A friend to Sonali Bendre: "We have to go dancing."
A beaming Sonali: "Yeah lets meet at AER tonight."
A timid journo to Sonali: "What do you think of the furniture?"
A startled Sonali: "Emm…err…I haven't seen the furniture as yet. I will check the jewellery first."

Pooja Bedi was seen running away from the shutterbugs: "Oh please, I am just in jeans and black T-shirt! Please don't click my pictures today!" But alas, there's no escape from hounding photographers!
