Couple workouts you'll love!

You have been ignoring your workouts, fitness regimes for a while now. The reason maybe your long working hours coupled with meeting expectations of your in-laws and your kids. At the end of the day, all you can manage is to mumble ‘goodnight’ to your spouse before you hit the sack. Moreover, one of the reasons you should workout with your partner is "because it is fun and is motivating," says Monisha Goel, fitness expert. Here’s how you can get that spunk back in your relationship with these ‘couple’ workouts:
Learn a danceThis goes without saying. There can be no better way to get sparks flying again! Learn a sexy form of dance like salsa or tango. It will be fun since you are learning a new art form and you will burn off a lot of calories. Moreover, there is nothing like an hour or more of close dancing with your partner to make your day, isn’t it?
Go for walks, jogsA walk or a jog is a great way to start the day. It brings you closer to nature, gives you your daily dose of fresh air and a healthy amount of Vitamin D - sunlight. It just gets better if you do all this with your better half. You may not walk/jog at the same speeds. But this could workout just right for you. Work it up at one partner’s fast pace and recover with the slow pace of the other. “30 minutes of brisk walking/jogging burns up to 150 calories,” says Girish Talwalkar, director, Talwalkar’s Fitness.
“Swimming is also another activity a couple can do,” he says. It’s fun and is a full body workout. It helps in strengthening and toning muscles. 30 minutes of swimming burns up to 175 calories.
Play the gameSign up for a sport like squash or basketball. These games will give you a full body workout. Moreover, it will bring out the competitive side in you. Compete with each other and the winner can ask the other person to do whatever he/she may wish - wink wink.
Misc.Stretching together can be very beneficial for your flexibility. Here are few exercises couples can do together:
The row boat“Sit on the floor with your feet touching each other; hold hands and rotate your arms like you are rowing a boat,” explains Girish Talwalkar, director, Talwalkar’s fitness.
This exercise will stretch your thigh muscles and help tone your arms.
Crunches“One of you can stand on the feet of the other as the other one does ab-crunches,” says Talwalkar. These are very helpful in toning lower abs.
Enough motivation from you partner will help you perform better and reach your targets quicker.
Push-ups“While doing push-ups, your partner can give you resistance by keeping his/her palm on your back,” Talwalkar says. “This will increase the intensity of the workout,” he explains.
Women usually opt for wall push-ups while men do push-ups against the floor. Push-ups are a great way to strengthen your shoulder and triceps.
Try these fun workouts with your better half and watch the fat melt and see the sparks fly!
